Esta pintura expresa el momento en que la Virgen María es elevada al cielo, como reconocimiento a su pureza y vida de santidad. Se observa la presencia de los apóstoles, quienes contemplan el ascenso de la Virgen sobre una multitud de querubines. El estilo de Villalpando se distingue en los rostros de los personajes, el manejo de la atmósfera y el correcto dibujo de la transparencia y vuelo de las telas.
